Q: I am just shocked they would spend millions on a boys and girls club when people in that area and immediate surrounding areas are still living in Fema trailers due to Hurricane Katrina??? It is just a ridiculous WASTE of money...they could have built a nice club and used the rest of the money to help others help rebuild homes and such...it just makes me sick??? What do you think?
A: Actually, the FEMA parks have long been closed here, although there are a few trailers and cottages on private property. And we now have more affordable housing available than we have people to live in all of the available homes and apartments. Our local economy is nowhere near as bad as the rest of the country, either, we actually have growth happening. I think you are confusing us with Louisiana. I can't say for sure what they do with all their money over there, but it's no big secret that they got the lion's share when it comes to Katrina aid.
I can't fault you for not knowing what's going on down here though. The media only likes to show the drama, and positive news does not sell like negative news.
